Pipestone Vineyards is a small family run winery and vineyard nestled in our own secluded valley and tucked into the coast ranges just west of Paso Robles. In this truly quiet and peaceful location, we overlook the Templeton Gap which brings cooling evening ocean breezes to our sunny terraced hillsides. The winery and tasting room are only steps away from the vineyard. We encourage visitors to relax, picnic, visit our farm animals, and enjoy the quiet surroundings. At Pipestone Vineyards, we are dedicated to producing hand-made, estate-grown, Rhône style wines from Syrah, Viognier, Grenache Noir & Mourvèdre, including a Southern Rhône-style blend and a Zinfandel in a Mediterranean style. Our wines are grown in our own sun-drenched estate vineyard where our shallow, rocky, calcareous soil, combined with our micro climate, produces wines of intense flavor and aroma.
Combining eastern and western traditions, the owners, Jeff Pipes and Florence Wong strive to manage Pipestone Vineyards sustainably, being gentle on the land and its inhabitants. We’ve created an organic balance in the vineyard that promotes good soil health and habitat for beneficial insects. Pipestone Vineyards may be the only vineyard and winery in California managed and built according to the traditional Chinese principals of feng shui. Both philosophies (East and West) come together in our understanding of how each decision one makes regarding the land has an effect on many other natural systems.
