Adelaida Cellars

Adelaida Cellars is a family-owned and operated winery named after a 19th century settlement in the mountains of west Paso Robles. Situated at 2,000 feet of elevation and 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the terrain of the Adelaida district is marked by ancient calcareous soils, diurnal temperature variations of nearly 50 degrees, and warm, dry growing seasons.

Our critically acclaimed wines originate in a handful of estate vineyards with extraordinary growing conditions. Lean calcareous soils blanket deep layers of chalk-white shale, controlling vine vigor to engender small concentrated grapes while the maritime effects of cool afternoon breezes and extreme diurnal temperature swings bring brightness and clarity to the wines.

In keeping with our sustainable philosophy, most vineyards are not tilled, encouraging native grasses, wild sage and rosemary to flourish between the rows.

Four estate vineyards form the nucleus of our steadfast wine program. Developed in 1964, HMR is the oldest Pinot Noir planting throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Viking was planted with 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in 1992. Anna’s was planted with 18 acres of Syrah in 2002-03 while nine more acres of Rhône varieties were added in 2005-06. Michael’s is an 18-acre parcel of dry-farmed, head-trained Heritage clone Zinfandel.

Our wines continue to be favorably reviewed by Wine Spectator, Connoisseurs’ Guide, Decanter, Santé, Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits and more.

We offer interactive functions such as food and wine seminars, Pizza & Music most weekends, Beaujolais Nouveau celebration, winemaker dinners and seasonal festivals as well as three distinct venues for private events: Wedding Hill, Barrel Room and Lawn.

Membership in our wine clubs (The Tribe or Club Viking) provides a 20% discount on all wine purchases, priority access to limited-production releases, exclusive events, complimentary wine tasting, and newsletters.
